Looking for Work After Being on Sick Leave

Suzie, 40, was a production supervisor at a plant. A corporate merger and restructuring increased her workload so much that she started suffering from burnout. She ended up being on sick leave for 10 months. Unfortunately, two weeks after she returned to work, her employer fired her. Suzie was devastated by this turn of events. She found it difficult to cope with pressure. Scared of being turned down, she did not make much effort to look for work. Several months later, with her EI benefits running out, Suzie decided to meet with one of our orientation counsellors for help with job-searching tools and to find ways to boost her confidence in herself and her abilities. In less than three months, she had found a new job.
